In 1968, Bill Taylor founded William Taylor aged just 19 and tirelessly worked to grow the business throughout the following decades. Bill has honed many of his staff into prominent roles in insurance while many of the current staff he oversees have been with him for more than 20 years. Bill still pops into the office regularly and enjoys his hobbies as a trained pilot and skipper of the company's yacht.
After working door-to-door selling life policies in London and Manchester, 19-year-old Bill decided to go it alone and set up William Taylor Insurance Brokers. By the early 80s, the company had its own purpose-built office in South Ockendon where it still calls home today. He is known in the area for how many people he has employed, helping many to hone their careers either in insurance or elsewhere. Some of his staff members have been with him for over 40 years. Bill has always been active in sport, captaining cricket sides in the Essex area and has ties with local football teams, Aveley FC and Thurrock FC. Bill passed on the reigns to his daughter, Emma, but he is still an important figure in the business.
